FENTON ARTIST GUILD MEETING MINUTES FEB. 19, 2008
PRESENTATION...Mardi Gras Party for the guild...fun, food, beads, masks and Mardi Gras History presented by Judy Paris and Rochelle Hicks. Masks created by the guild were on display

SPECIAL GUEST...Pat Lockwood...presented regarding fundraising for the Fenton Community Cultural Center. Pat is a co-chair with Bob Burek. The fundraising has been ongoing for 5 years. Target figure is 3 million dollars and 1.2 tp 1.4 has been raised. Terry Brancheau presnted Pat with a check for $275 from the guild for fund. (the money was raised from the auction of small chairs painted by art guild members in 2007.

HISTORIAN POSITION - Paula MacMillan (new member) has accepted it. Yay!! and thank you Paula.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Karen Wisnieski is still under the weather....and Jaki Miller is doing better in a cast.
Cards would be appreciated.

MEMBERSHIP: March 1st, 2008 is the last day to pay dues for the year to be included in the guild directory. The directory is due to be published in March 2008.

NEWSLETTER: We need someone to pick up the copies of the newsletter from the Fenton Area Schools Administration office on Owen Rd. and stamps and label them and mail them once a month. Labels are pre-made. Karen Cherveny is publishing the newsletter for everyone online. Contact her at irishexpect@charter.net

ART AT THE CENTER – AUGUST 2008 NEEDS A CHAIRPERSON

MAY SPRING GUILD SHOW AT COMMUNITY: does guild want to have one? Is someone available to be chairperson for this?

CURLTURAL CENTER FUNDRAISER- VICTORIAN TEA would guild like to have art set up at this event? More discussion needed.

MARDI GRAS MASKS: they cannot be displayed at Genesys Hospital unless they are in “shadow boxes”. Other Mask venues are being explored.

OPEN STUDIO 2 thursday evenings remain in the month for doing your art projects or working on a model

FLINT INSTITUE OF ARTS : DISPLAY OPPORTUNITY FOR OUT GUILD.More discussion. Oct. 21st guild competition will be judged by Harriet and Tracey from FIA. If guild decides to display at FIA our work will then be required to go into the rental section of the FIA.

MOTION: for guild to enter FIA display...motion seconded and carried – more info. To come.

MARCH PRESENTATION: DeAnne Andrykovich will present a PASTEL portrait demo.
