Program- Watercolor DVD, was enjoyed by all.
Paula Macmillan was nominated and elected president. YayJ
Just to let you know.. Jean Deegan has not been feeling well. She has had trouble with her back in case anyone would like to send a card or email.
Bill Johnson, an honorary member has passed away. The guild will send a sympathy card to the family.
Secretarys report- accepted as read. It has been decided that the minutes should still be read at every meeting, and there was a motion accepted to not re-visit this issue for at least a year.
Treasurers report- 290.38 checking 3218.58 savings…accepted. The treasurer’s summary is verbally adequate, but it was asked to have a copy of the financial report in case anyone is interested in viewing.
We are in need of a vice president and also an historian.
Art at the Center- will be held August 8th and 9th. There was a motion accepted for the Guild to participate in this show again this year. There will be a sign-up sheet circulated at the next meeting. People participating in the show are also expected to help out
Freedom Festival- Our participation in this festival will be voted on next meeting. Last year was successful. There was a small booth for the Guild and Vera demonstrated her artwork there. It was a good venue to promote the Guild.
Gift of Art Show- It was voted on that we book the show for Nov. 7th so we may set up the day before. Jaki Miller is a member of the South Lakes Community Artist council and they suggested having some arts groups (singers, etc) come in and entertain for the show. That sounded like a good idea to all.
April Critique and Competition- all artwork must be museum ready. Jaki and Rochell will be checking artwork to make sure it meets the guidelines. Kelly at Jagged Edge gallery has also offered her help with framing ideas etc.. The Gallery can hold approx. 18 pieces. Sculpture is acceptable but must be free-standing or needs a pedestal. Jewelry is also acceptable and may be presented in a shadow box etc. Each artist is able to enter one piece (as was decided on at Jan. board meeting). It was also decided that Rochelle and Jaki design and print postcards for artists to use, but the artist is responsible for stamps and sending them out to family and friends. Bring your best piece, the FIA has additional gallery space that can house about 18 pieces and they will be looking for artists/artwork to fill that space in the future.
The member total is now 43 for the Artist Guild.
V.G.’s slips- Betty reported that they have changed their process, and will send Betty the totals.
There is an evening open studio beginning March 2nd. It will be at the Cultural & Community Center on Monday’s from 6-9:00pm. There is a $2 fee for drop-ins, and there will be models provided.
The open studio on Wed. mornings will only have models on the 1st and 3rd wed. of the month, there wasn’t enough turn-out to support payment for the models.
There will be a Collage Workshop April 29th-May 1st- Lori Taylor will be running this workshop.
