March-2007
Hello artists!
What a great turnout we had for the February meeting! We enjoyed some small group discussions on how to overcome artist’s block with everyone contributing. Twenty-Six different ways were suggested, which we have included in the newsletter. Cut them out; hang them by your workspace, in case you get stuck! Christine Stokes presented and demonstrated Ukrainian egg decorating. Not only did we hear the wonderful history, but we learned where to get supplies, as well as how to do decorate them and saw many beautiful examples.
Thank you, Jaki, for the wonderful permanent nametags for our paid members. They are encased in plastic, on a string and even include our media. Nice job! Don’t forget to pick yours up when you come AND return them when you leave, so we’ll have them for the next meeting.
With the help of Rochell Hicks and Mary Kipp, we cleaned out the Fenton Artist Guild closet. We have a cart of treasures which we will bring again to the next meeting. For anyone who wants, reference photos, memento photos, trays, items you may have lost, etc. please help yourself.
We honored John Horak for his many years of participation in the Fenton Artist Guild (He joined in 1980), currently he does our certificates for Artist of the Month.
Finally, in March, Kelly Smith from the Jagged Edge Gallery will be presenting all kinds of information about framing. Don’t miss it!
See you there, Tuesday, March 20th at 7:00 p.m.

p.s. Demonstration is after the break. (Time will vary.)

February -2007
Happy New Year, Artists!
A hearty thank you for all the members who ventured out on our first real winter night of the season. New lights in our upstairs meeting room really brightened our room as well as our spirits. We found out about each other’s first experience with art, (including Tom Hicks, who is a boat salesman, and can swab a deck with the best of them.) Diane Tasselmyer introduced an exciting very easy new fund raiser for the Guild to raise money either for bricks, requires no extra work on our part. Read about it further in the Art4ACause article. Rochell Hicks, our new vice-President, presented a great, easy “web” technique to spark our creativity.
By the way, don’t forget to pick up your new directory at the next meeting. Thank you, Jackie!
Congratulations, Vera on being Artist of the year! (By the way Vera is working on a new book---ask her about it) She just edged out Judy Paris and Mary Boyer. Come on fellow artists, bring in your art to enter Artist of the Month. Not all art is great, but Artist of the Month points add up and it’s a way of having a deadline to get a piece of work done….(You know how easy it is to procrastinate).
Next Board meeting is Monday February 5 at 3:30 at the Coffee Beanery. Anyone is welcome to join us. By the way, if you have any concerns, questions or ideas, please call 810-629-5055 or email me at terrybrancheau41@yahoo.com!
Hope to see you Tuesday, February 20th at 7:00 p.m.!
Happy Art!
